The project
About SanarTEsana
SanarTEsana is a small tea project in Tlayacapan, a town in the state of Morelos, Mexico. It grows its own plants agroecologically, without pesticides, in soil fed by compost and fertilizers it makes itself. The plants are harvested by hand, dried, and blended into seven teas.
The blends are made by Yoali. The work rests on a simple idea: living soil makes better plants, and the people who farm it deserve a direct, fair relationship. SanarTEsana grows alongside other organic farmers in Morelos and other parts of Mexico.
We carry SanarTEsana for the same reason we make tortillas. Everything Xinachtli works with begins as a seed, grown by people who keep the soil and the varieties alive. Tea is that idea in a different plant.

The seven
Each tea is named for a Spanish verb, an invitation rather than a promise. ApapachaTE comes from apapachar, a Mexican Spanish verb with Nahuatl roots, often glossed as to comfort or to caress. The rest read the same way. The seven also follow the chakras, the body’s energy centers, each tied to a feeling or a state. We keep that light here and let each blend speak for itself.

How to brew
One teaspoon per cup. Pour over water just off the boil. Steep five minutes, then strain.
Where to find them
The teas are shelf-stable and ship across Canada. In Vancouver you can also pick them up in East Vancouver or find them at our summer farmers markets.

Do they contain caffeine?
No. All seven are caffeine-free herbal teas.
How should I store them?
Somewhere cool and dry, out of light, kept sealed.
How do I brew them?
One teaspoon per cup, water just off the boil, five minutes.
